Tigers Begin Season Friday in Wilmington

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson diving team officially opens its 2016-17 campaign on Friday when the Tigers travel to Wilmington, N.C. for a meet against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at 5 p.m. The team will then match up with the Seahawks again on Saturday in addition to the East Carolina Pirates for a meet in Greenville, N.C at 1 p.m.

This year’s team features 10 returning divers, making for one of head coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams’ most experienced squads. Amongst the upperclassmen are Sarah Braun, a senior who posted some of her top scores of last season at the NCAA Zone B Championships, and sophomore Sarah Blank, who qualified for the finals in both the one-meter and three-meter springboard at the USA Diving National Zone C Meet in July. Other returners are senior Danielle Reitsma, who is no stranger to postseason competition; juniors Allison Brophy, Hannah Donovan and Megan Jendra; and sophomores Jaya Brown, Morgan Fiske, Caylin Hirapara and Erin Lee.

Rounding out the team are three new freshmen, including Singaporean Freida Lim, who won gold medals in the women’s individual age group A platform and the one-meter springboard at the 2016 Singapore National Diving Championships and has qualified to represent the Republic of Singapore at other championship events over the next few years. She is joined by freshmen Megan Hays and Hannah Phelan, who both look to play key roles on the team this season.
