Tigers Begin Conference Play By Hosting Georgia Tech

Nov. 4, 2010

CLEMSON–The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will open up the conference season on Friday night against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at McHugh Natatorium. The meet will begin at 6 p.m.

Both of Clemson squads enter Friday’s ACC showdown with a 1-1 record after sweeping Davidson on October 1 and falling to South Carolina on October 29. The Yellow Jackets will also be opening conference play with 2-2 records for the men and women after splits in a pair of tri-meets to begin the season. Georgia Tech has swept Florida Atlantic and Emory and has lost to Western Kentucky and Georgia.

On the men’s side, the Tigers lead the all-time series 34-26, but the Yellow Jackets have won the head-to-head matchup in consecutive years. The Clemson women’s team has defeated Georgia Tech eight out of nine times ever and currently holds a five-meet winning streak over the Yellow Jackets.

Last season, the Yellow Jackets finished fifth in the ACC on the men’s side and ninth on the women’s side. Admission to Friday night’s meet is free to the public.
