CLEMSON, S.C. – Head coach Chuck McCuen and the Clemson men’s tennis team have announced their schedule for the 2014-15 season, which features four fall tournaments, beginning with the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga. this weekend. The Tigers’ 2015 spring schedule features matches against 12 Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, and 11 matches at home at Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
Following the Southern Intercollegiates this weekend, the Tigers head to Tulsa, Okla. for the 2014 Saint Francis Health System Men’s All-American Championships. That event runs from Sept. 26-Oct. 6 at the University of Tulsa. Clemson also plays at the ITA Carolina Regionals in Cary, N.C. and the USTA Collegiate Invitational at Disney in Orlando, Fla. this fall.
Clemson’s spring home slate this season includes five matches against nonconference opponents Gardner-Webb, Mercer and Wofford (all on Feb. 7) and the College of Charleston and Presbyterian College on March 8. The remaining six home contests are against league opponents Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest and conference-newcomer Louisville.
On Jan. 23-25, the Tigers head to Durham to play in the ITA Kick-off Weekend, hosted by Duke. On Saturday, Jan. 31, Clemson travels to South Carolina for the 106th meeting between the two teams. The series began in 1925. Clemson came out on top by a score of 4-1 in last season’s meeting. The team competes in the prestigious Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala. on Feb. 20-22.
Clemson faces 12 teams in the spring that played in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament in 2014. The Tigers look to build off the success of last season, in which they finished fifth in the ACC with a 21-9 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
