Tigers? 2016-17 Nonconference Schedule Announced

CLEMSON, S.C. – Eight home games highlight the Clemson women’s basketball team’s nonconference schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 season, led off by the team’s return to the newly rebuilt Littlejohn Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 11 for its season opener against Coastal Carolina. Head Coach Audra Smith’s team will play the first regular season contest in the new Littlejohn Coliseum, as the Tiger men’s team will open its season in the new building later that evening.

Clemson hosts three-straight home games to open the season, with Western Carolina and Georgia Southern visiting Tigertown on Nov. 13 and Nov. 16, respectively, after the Chanticleers. The Tigers hit the road for the first time in 2016 when they travel to New Jersey, the home state of junior and last season’s leading scorer Nelly Perry, as well as junior guard Victoria Cardaci, the team’s leader in three-point shooting a year ago, to face Monmouth on Nov. 19. On Nov. 22, Clemson hosts Louisiana Tech, before the team travels to Puerto Rico to play Loyola Chicago and Wright State in the San Juan Shootout on Nov. 25 and 26.

Maine and Oregon visit Clemson on Dec. 2 and Dec. 12, respectively, after the Tigers faced both the Black Bears and Ducks on the road in 2015-16. On Dec. 15, Clemson travels to Columbia to face South Carolina, before returning to Littlejohn to host South Carolina State on Dec. 18. The final two games on the Tigers’ nonconference slate are a road game at Jacksonville State on Dec. 21, followed by a home game versus Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 29.

Clemson’s conference schedule for 2016-17 will be announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference, in conjunction with the conference schedules for all 15 league teams, later this month.
