CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Volleyball Team is doing its part in the battle against breast cancer by hosting a Dig Pink match for the fifth straight season. The Dig Pink match is presented by the Print House of Pendleton and will be held on Friday, Oct. 22, when Clemson takes on Maryland at 7:00 PM in Jervey Gym.
Fans have several options to participate in this year’s event. Dig Pink T-Shirts will be sold at all home volleyball matches for ten dollars, with all proceeds from the sales of the t-shirts going to the Side-Out Foundation. Zeta Tau Alpha will also be selling shirts from Oct. 18-22 on the library bridge. Fans can also make a flat donation.
A new way the team will be raising funds is by auctioning off the pink jerseys they wear that night. Fans will be able to bid for the jerseys via a silent auction at the Promotions Table. Donations can also be made online. All funds raised will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation.
Fans that attend the match and wear pink have the chance to win an iPod. All breast cancer survivors who will be in attendance and would like to be recognized, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dig Pink is a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally being held during October in order to raise awareness and funds. This season, 221 college teams are among the 885 teams participating in the event. The Foundation has set a goal of $2,500,000 for the 2010 fund raising effort. Clemson has challenged themselves to raise $4,000 for the initiative, which would be an increase from their contribution of $3,800 from a season ago.
The Clemson Athletic Department would like to thank the Print House, ISAB, and Zeta Tau Alpha for their contributions.
