Tiger Volleyball Sets Spring Schedule

Head Clemson volleyball coach Jolene Jordan Hoover has announced her squad’s 2008 spring schedule. A trip to San Diego, CA for the CSTV Collegiate Beach Volleyball Nationals highlights the season, while the Tigers will also play host to a tournament at Jervey Gym in April.

Clemson will open its spring schedule on Wednesday, Mar. 26 against Winthrop in Rock Hill, SC.

Middle Tennessee State and the College of Charleston will travel to Tigertown on Apr. 12 to compete against the Tigers. Each school will face the other two twice that day for a total of four matches.

At the Collegiate Nationals, Clemson will be matched against teams from 2007 National Champion Nebraska, Texas, Southern California and Wisconsin, with one final team still to be determined. The tournament features duos from the nation’s top indoor volleyball teams and will be held in San Diego, CA on Apr. 20.

As part of the trip, the Tigers will also take on the University of San Diego on Thursday, Apr. 17.

Clemson finished the 2007 season with a 29-4 overall record and a conference-best 21-1 mark. The Tigers were ranked 22nd in the final AVCA poll for their first top-25 listing since the 1999 season. Five starters from that squad will return next season, including AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans Danielle Hepburn, Didem Ege and Kelsey Murphy.
