Tiger Volleyball Finishes Play in Atlanta Invitational

ATLANTA, GA – The Clemson Volleyball team went 1-2 in its three matches at the Atlanta Invitational, co-hosted by Georgia Tech and Georgia State. Clemson played all three matches at Georgia State, with a win over South Alabama and losses to Auburn and Troy.

Auburn took the first match from the Clemson in the battle of Tigers, 25-16 and 25-23. The tournament used a best-of-three format, as opposed to the normal best-of five. Cansu Ozdemir added four.

The Tigers needed three sets to take down South Alabama in the next match, prevailing 25-21, 22-25, 15-13. Brittany Fennell had eight kills in nine attacks, while All-ACC performer Lacy Hayes added 22 assists on 32 kills.

Adeleye continued her strong play in the third match, recording 13 kills in 22 attacks. Patzin added seven of her own as well while Hayes had 29 assists in the match. The Tigers looked strong in the second set, where Hayes guided the Tigers to a .471 hitting mark. However the Tigers couldn’t put it all together, falling to Troy, 2-1 (27-29, 25-15, 12-15).

The Tigers will continue their spring schedule with a home match against Furman on Wednesday night at 7:15 in Jervey Gymnasium. The Tigers will then host a tournament on Saturday with matches at 10:00 am, 11:30 pm, and 1:00 pm.
