Oct. 29, 2007

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team cracked the top 25 this week in the America Volleyball Coaches Association poll, released on Monday, after receiving votes in past three polls. The Tigers are riding a 16-match winning streak and boast a 20-2 overall record. Clemson is also atop the ACC standings with a perfect 13-0 ledger against conference foes.

The ranking is the program’s first since the 1999 season when the Tigers spent 14 weeks in the top 25, achieving their highest rank at #13.

Four Clemson players have tallied at least 200 kills this season, led by junior Jeannette Abbott’s 289 total. Senior Meghan Steiner owns an impressive .404 hitting percentage for the year with 210 kills, while setter Kelsey Murphy boasts a 12.26 assist per game average with 254 defensive saves.

Most recently, Clemson defeated North Carolina by a 3-1 margin on Oct. 26 before sweeping NC State on Oct. 27. The Tigers will play three matches this week as they will play host to Georgia Tech on Tuesday night and travel to Virginia and Virginia Tech for weekend contests.
