Tiger Volleyball Drops a Pair on Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Volleyball team fell 3-2 to Furman and 2-1 to Georgia State in their final spring action on Saturday in Jervey Gym. The Tigers closed the exhibition season with a 2-2 mark, including wins at Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Two-time All-ACC performer Sandra Adeleye had 28 total kills and five blocks in the two matches, while ACC All-freshman selection Mo Simmons had kill totals of ten and 14 in the two matches.

Furman used a strong defensive effort to stifle the Tigers in five sets, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 7-15. The recorded 16.0 blocks and had 85 digs. Setters Kelly Kirby and Natalie Braun each had triple-doubles in helping to hold the Tigers to .153 hitting. Chandler Ambrester had 22 kills and six blocks in the match to lead all players.

Freshman Kamryn Sherman had 45 assists, and Clemson racked up nine service aces, led by Camila Rosado’s four in the first set.

In the second match, Clemson and Georgia State played a best-of-three match, with the Panthers taking a 26-24, 12-25, 25-22 win.

Georgia State held Clemson to .187 hitting, and won despite allowing nine aces. Muki Kangwa had 18 kills in 29 attempts, while Adeleye (11 kills) and Simmons (10 kills) led the Tigers.
