Tiger Volleyball Defeats Furman, 3-0, In Spring Tournament On Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger volleyball team posted a 1-1 record in the Clemson Spring Tournament on Saturday at Jervey Gymnasium. The host team defeated Furman, 3-0, in the morning match but then fell to Winthrop in a five-game thriller in the afternoon.

Head Coach Jolene Jordan Hoover was able to play all 11 active players against the Paladins, as the Tigers won the games by scores of 30-25, 30-23 and 30-19.

Clemson won the first game against the Eagles, 30-25, and then Winthrop claimed the second game, 30-27. The Tigers went back ahead with a 30-18 victory in the third set, but dropped a close fourth game, 30-28, to force the deciding fifth game. The Eagles defeated Clemson by a score of 22-20 to post the victory.

In other tournament action, Winthrop defeated Furman by a score of 3-1.

The Tigers will continue their spring season at the University of Georgia on Apr. 13 and conclude the three-event schedule at the University of South Carolina on Apr. 15.
