Tiger Track & Field Set to Host Clemson Relays

March 22, 2007

Clemson, SC – The men’s track & field team will play host to the Clemson Relays on Saturday at the Rock Norman Outdoor Complex. It marks the first home event for Clemson for the 2007 outdoor season. The events get underway at 10:00 AM with the men’s 10,000m run.

Travis Padgett leads a large group of student-athletes scheduled to compete this weekend for Clemson. The indoor 60m dash champion at NCAAs just two weeks ago, Padgett is ready to compete in several events this weekend. He will be the featured runner in the 100m dash, which is set for 1:45 PM. Padgett is the ACC and East Region record-holder (10.00) in the event.

He also will compete with the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams. Clemson will also enter teams in the 4x400m and distance medley relays.

Ryan Koontz will also have a busy Saturday for the Tigers. An indoor All-American two weeks ago in the heptathlon, he is scheduled to compete in several events. He will get his day started in the javelin throw at 12:00 PM. He is also scheduled for the 110m hurdles (12:15), discus throw (3:00), and distance medley (3:45).

In the field events, a pair of Tigers that earned titles last weekend at the Georgia Relays will compete again this weekend. Adam Linkenauger, who nursed an injury during the indoor season, will compete in the high jump at 1:30.
