Tiger Track & Field Captures Multiple Wins on Final Day of Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson won seven individual events and one relay on Saturday, the final day at the Clemson Invitational from the school’s indoor track & field complex. The women’s “A” team of Stormy Kendrick, Whitney Fountain, Brianna Rollins and Marlena Wesh easily won the 4x400m relay to conclude the meet. The team put together a time of 3:44.06.

The men’s 4x400m relay of Jordan Rispress, La’Mont Jackson was third with a time of 3:16.34. Miller Moss was supposed to run with the first group, but was unable to after competing in the long jump up until it was time to go with the 4×4. He ran with the second group instead, which consisted of Justin Murdock, Marcus Maxey and Ryan Mangone, compiling a time of 3:22.34 in the second section.

Stephanie Buffo won the women’s mile after taking the lead with just under two laps to go. The senior from Spartanburg, SC crossed the finish line with a time of 5:04.05. Sarah Turman (5:17.47) was third. Nic Tones was runner-up in the men’s mile with a time of 4:26.12.

Alyssa Henshaw captured the women’s 800m run with a time of 2:18.57. Another freshman, Natalie Anthony, won the 3K with a time of 10:21.20. In the men’s 800, Chris Slate was runner-up with a time of 1:55.29 and Aaron Ramirez was on his heels at 1:55.69.

Josh Fowler won the men’s long jump. The recent graduate hit a mark of 23’2″ in his first action of the season in one of his primary events. Moss was fifth with a jump of 22’0.75″. April Sinkler won the women’s long jump with a mark of 19’9.5″. Jasmine Brunson was second with a jump of 19’5.25″.

Lauren Terstappen was runner-up in the women’s pole vault. The freshman out of Phoenixville, PA moved into a four-way tie for fifth place in Clemson’s all-time indoor records for the event with a 12’5.5″ clearance.

Danielle Curry won the women’s event, one day after throwing the 20-pound weight. Curry hit a mark of 45’4.25″.

The Tiger teams return to action next Saturday, Jan. 15. Clemson will host a four-way meet against Auburn, Georgia and Miami (FL).
