Tiger Track Competes at Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas

ACC Champion Shawn Crawford finished first in the 200m dash at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday with a time of 20.12. The sprinters and hurdlers traveled to Texas for the one day meet.

Crawford’s time is his fastest time this season. Kenny Franklin and Carlton Chambers also ran in the same heat as Crawford and finished fourth and seventh with times of 20.60 and 21.49. Fellow Tiger Jeremichael Williams placed sixth in his heat with a time of 21.41.

Crawford and Franklin also ran in the 100m dash. Coming in third was Crawford with a time of 10.21, and Franklin finished second in the fourth heat with a time of 10.43.

Senior hurdler Aaron Haynes won the 400m intermediate hurdles running a time of 50.08, which is also his fastest time of the season. Placing second was fellow senior Greg Hines, who ran a time of 50.28.

In the 110m hurdles three Clemson athletes competed and finished second, fifth and sixth. Williams placed second hurdling a time of 13.54, Hines took fifth with a time of 13.87, and Sultan Tucker was sixth with a time of 14.05.

The 1600m relay won their event with a time of 3:09.78, which is the fastest time they have ran this season.

In the 800m dash All-ACC Davidson Gill placed third with a time of 1:50.58.

The Tiger distance runners and field event jumpers and throwers traveled to the University of North Carolina’s meet that was held on Sunday. High Jumper ACC Champion Jason Brewer jumped a mark of 2.03m (6’8″) for a second place finish. In the triple jump All-ACC Tony Lloyd placed fourth with a mark of 14.58m (47’10”).
