Tiger Track and Field Hosts Clemson Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Tiger track and field teams hosted the Clemson Relays Saturday afternoon at the Rock Norman Track Complex. The Lady Tigers’ Mandy McLane provisionally qualified in the pole vault with a mark of 12’103/4″ while the Tigers’ Malcolm Reynolds provisionally qualified in the high jump with a mark of 7’21/4″. Complete results from the meet are currently unavailable due to technical difficulties. The complete results will be posted on www.clemsontigers.com as soon as they are available.

In the women’s events, the Tigers won the 4x100m relay (1:07.86) and the 4×200 (1:35.56). The 4x800m relay team finished fourth with a time of 9:52.02.

In the field events, Katie Pickett placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5’61/2″. McLane won the pole vault with her qualifying mark (12’103/4″) while Joana Costa finished third with a mark of 11’3 3/4″. Sarah Ellis was seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 10’4″. Lauren Nicholson led the Lady Tigers in the long jump with a fourth place finish (17’11”). Katrina Moultrie finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17’1″ and Sheri Smith was 10th with a mark of 16’8″. Smith won the triple jump with a mark of 38’10”. Jamine Moton claimed the shot put with a mark of 47’81/2″ while Nicholson was 16th with a mark of 27’21/2″. Moton also won the discus throw with a mark of 156’10” and was second in the hammer throw with a mark of 175’9″. Mary Gosselin finished seventh in the hammer with a mark of 122’11”. In the javelin throw, Katrina Moultrie finished sixth with a mark of 72’3″ while Nicholson was ninth (35’8″).

In the men’s events, Clemson’s 4×100 won the race in 40.94 while the 4x110m hurdles team won with a time of 56.55. The 4x200m relay team finished second in 1:24.67 and the 1600m sprint medley relay team won that event in 3:29.26.

Clemson fared well in the field events as well. The Tigers’ swept the top three places in the high jump. Reynolds won with a qualifying mark of 7’2 1/4″ while Doug Ameigh was second with a mark of 6’9 3/4″. Bryant Howe finished third with a mark of 6’8″. Brit Barrow claimed the long jump with a mark of 22’7″ and Tony Lloyd placed third (21’3″. Barrow also won the triple jump with a mark of 48’5″. Lloyd was second (46’1″), Terrance McDaniel finished third with a mark of 45’10” and Todd Matthews was sixth (45″0″). Matt Lombardi finished third in the shot put with a mark of 48’03/4″ and was also third in the discus throw (148’3″). David Schenek posted a second place finish in the discus throw (149’8″) and was also second in the hammer throw with a mark of 173’7″. Brett Varner won the hammer throw with a mark of 178’11 and Doug Ameigh finished fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 158’5″.

The Clemson Tigers and Lady Tigers will compete at the Florida Relays Mar. 30-31.
