Tiger Tailgate Show Boasts New Line-Up of Hosts and Fun for Clemson Fans

Aug. 30, 2010

Starting September 4, Clemson fans will enjoy a new and exciting OrangeandWhite.com Tiger Tailgate Show. The fun fans have come to love in their favorite pre-game radio show will grow in the new season with new hosts and guests, along with lots of fan participation and chances to win great prizes.

The new host of the show is David Stein. David is a huge Clemson fan and he hosts the syndicated Celebration of Life Through Sports carried nationally by Sporting News Radio. The unique show airs locally on 104.9 The Drive from 2A-6A. You can also see David on The Golf Channel’s Top 10 Shows.

David’s road to The Tiger Tailgate Show is a powerful story. His love for Clemson began with the miracle recovery of Mickey Plyler’s (WCCP-FM Morning Host) son, Ryan who was in a car accident. David came to visit Ryan and immediately embraced everything that Clemson represents.

Quote from Tiger Tailgate Show Host, David Stein: “I am amazed at the warmth and love that everyone has for each other. When I saw an entire community put their arms around Ryan, I knew that this was where I was supposed to be. I am blessed with having relationships with so many wonderful people here at Clemson. It didn’t hurt that my first game was a huge win at Death Valley! It will be a joy to share The TTS experience with my Clemson Family.”

Roy Philpott is The Tiger Tailgate Show’s new co-host at all home and road broadcasts. Philpott, a 1999 Clemson graduate, has covered Clemson sports on a fulltime basis for the last nine years, and has hosted numerous sports talk shows in the Upstate, including The Score and also the Tiger Pre-game Show. He also is the play-by-play voice for Thursday Night Lights on My40, in addition to select college games on ABC 13 and has appeared numerous times on the NFL Network.

Quote from Tiger Tailgate Show Co-Host, Roy Philpott: “It’s been a dream of mine for quite some time to be a part of the Tiger Tailgate Show,” Philpott said. “There’s no place I’d rather be than in Clemson on a sun-splashed Saturday talking Clemson football. It really has the potential to be a great year. Not to mention working with David Stein – he’s one of the best in the business.”

Dan Scott will be our new co-host at Wild Wing Café in Spartanburg with David Stein on all road game broadcasts. For the previous five seasons, Dan Scott has co-hosted the Fifth Quarter Show on the Clemson Tiger Sports Network, and has been part of the baseball broadcast team for the same time period. In addition, Dan hosts a daily talk show on the Network’s flagship station – 104.9 FM, WCCP – and is the voice of their broadcasts of Clemson baseball and women’s basketball. Dan will be the sole host of the Fifth Quarter Show this season.

Quote from Tiger Tailgate Show Co-Host, Dan Scott: “I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Tailgate Show’s new direction. I’m confident fans are going to love what David Stein and Roy Philpott will bring as the show’s regular hosts, and I’m happy to be part of the road-game broadcasts.”
