Tiger Men’s Tennis Team Falls to #12 Washington At Great Northwest Shootout

SEATTLE, WA – The #37 Tiger men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to #12 Washington on Saturday in the first day of the Great Northwest Shootout at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle, WA. Clemson falls to 6-3 on the season, while the Huskies improve to 7-0 overall. The Tigers will face San Diego State today at 10:30 a.m. (PT) to conclude the Great Northwest Shootout.

In singles play, Nathan Thompson fell to 5th-ranked Alex Viaski 6-2, 6-3 at number one singles. At flight two singles, Sander Koning lost a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Washington’s 11th- ranked Matt Hanlin. Clemson’s Jarmaine Jenkins fell to Ari Strasberg 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles. Micah Thompson dropped a 7-6, 6-3 decision at number four singles to the Huskies’ Christoph Palmanshofer. At flight five singles, Damissa Robinson downed Dillon Ruby in a three-set decision (4-6, 6-2, 7-5). John Boetsch fell to Peter Scharler at number six singles, 6-3, 7-6.

In doubles action, the Tigers’ Nathan Thompson and Jenkins defeated the Huskies 18th-ranked duo of Strasberg and Vlaski, 8-6 at number one doubles. Washington’s Hanlin and Ruby defeated Clemson’s Robinson and Misquith at flight two doubles by a score of 8-3. At number three doubles, Koning and Boetsch dropped an 8-2 decision to Fred Sundsten and Nick Weiss.
