Tiger Letterwinners Association Hosts 1st Tailgate of 2014 Football Season

This past Saturday for the football home opener vs. South Carolina State the Tiger Letterwinners Association hosted its first event under the new IPTAY oversight. In conjunction with each home Clemson football game, the Association will host a pre-game tailgate in the Letterwinners Room, located in the South Atrium of Littlejohn Coliseum, prior to each home football game. This past Saturday, hundreds of Letterwinners and their families attended the pre-game tailgate for food, fun and fellowship. The room is open two hours before game time and remains open until just prior to kickoff. All Clemson Letterwinners are invited to attend.

The Tiger Letterwinners Association, under the direction of Bob Mahony, a 1976 graduate of Clemson University and baseball letterwinner, had this to say about this past weekend’s opening tailgate: “What a great first Saturday we had here on campus full of fun and fellowship. We are excited about this weekend’s turnout to the pre-game tailgate and we expect it to only grow as the season progresses. This opening tailgate marks the first of many exciting events to come for the Tiger Letterwinners Association this year.”

The Tiger Letterwinners Association is now under the “One IPTAY” umbrella and helps to enhance the lifelong experience of Clemson student-athletes. The Letterwinners Association has four main purposes as a part of its mission: To provide FELLOWSHIP among all letterwinners, RECOGNIZE and honor former student-athletes, provide OUTREACH to letterwinners in an effort to reengage them with Clemson University and to EDUCATE current coaches and student-athletes about the history of Clemson Athletics. Also, the Tiger Letterwinners Association oversees the Clemson University Athletic Hall of Fame which honors former student-athletes, coaches and other individuals associated with the athletic department for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the athletic department.
