COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Due to numerous delays and fluctuating weather forecasts, Clemson runners were unable to take to the track Saturday at Texas A&M’s The Reveille. Despite pulling out of the meet early, the Tigers competed in five field events, which were highlighted by Chris McBride in the men’s long jump and Veronica Fraley and Grayce French in the women’s discus.
McBride registered his all-conditions season best with a jump of 7.52m/25-4.5 (+3.0w). McBride placed fourth overall. Entering Saturday’s meet, his mark of 7.52m would stand as No. 17 in the East Region. Additionally, Saturday’s round is McBride’s first complete series of six jumps dating back the Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 8).
Fraley registered the Tigers’ highest finish on the day – third overall – in the women’s discus. The Raleigh, North Carolina native rewrote her own freshman record with a toss of 51.82m (170-0). Fraley also remains second all-time in program history in the event. Behind Fraley was French, who cracked the Tigers’ top-10 list. The junior threw for 45.47m (149-2), which is good for tenth all-time in Clemson history, and placed sixth overall.
Up Next, the Tigers head to South Carolina’s Gamecock Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
