This Day In Clemson Sports has been provided to ClemsonTigers.com by the authors of the book, Clemson: Where the Tigers Play. Three members of the Clemson Athletic family wrote the book: Associate Sports Information Director Sam Blackman, Sports Information Director Emeritus Bob Bradley and Men’s Tennis Coach Chuck Kriese.

October 16, 1958 – page 50 Harvey White dived into the end zone with nine seconds left to give Clemson a 12-7 win over Vanderbilt.

October 16, 1982 – page 79 Cliff Austin broke the (then) Clemson football record for most rushing yards in a game with 260 in a rout of Duke.
