T&F Travels to Tuscaloosa for Crimson Tide Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track & field team heads to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the 2018 Crimson Tide Invitational, which kicks of Friday and concludes Saturday (April 6-7) at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium. Clemson’s Danielle Borriello and Danielle Little will get things started for the Tigers in the women’s hammer throw Friday at 4:30 p.m. (ET). On the track, Grace Barnett, Katie Fortner, Jenna Gearing, Mikie Harris, Logan Morris and Morgan Wittrock open the meet’s running events with the women’s 1500m (top section) at 9:40 p.m. (ET).

“This weekend is more individual based,” said head coach Mark Elliott. “This is one of those meets where we are trying to get individual performances on the board in some event areas. For instance, in the mid-distance group, especially on the women’s side, this is our first time we’re going to run the open 800m [outdoors], even in the throws and in the jumps. I would say 80 percent of the team will be in their primary event.”

Clemson is coming off its third outdoor meet of the season in the Texas Relays (March 29-31). The meet was highlighted by Logan Morris (10:11.02) in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, the women’s DMR claiming back-to-back Texas Relay titles, and Torie Robinson setting the program’s all-conditions best in the 100m dash.

This weekend, the Tigers will look to add to their existing 24 top-48 marks in the NCAA east region, which is the qualifying standard for the first round of the NCAA Championship meet.
