Texas Tech Defeats Clemson Volleyball

LUBBOCK, TX – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Texas Tech Friday night at the United Spirit Arena on the first day of the Four Points Sheraton/Red Raider Classic. The Tigers fall to 4-5, while the Red Raiders improve to 4-3.

The Tigers were led by sophomore Leslie Finn with a match-high 12 kills, while sophomore Lori Ashton recorded 10 kills and two blocks. Senior Jessi Betcher handed out a match-best 33 assists and 16 digs. Junior Lindsey Abbott tallied 10 digs, while Marija Zoric posted four total blocks (one solo).

Melissa McGehee led the Red Raiders with 21 kills and 11 digs. Texas Tech had four other players in double-digit kills. Kelly Johnson recorded 20 kills and 13 digs, Angela Mooney tallied 10 kills and two blocks and Ann Romjue posted 10 kills and hit a match-high .409. Laura Grote handed out 58 assists and three blocks.

Clemson will face Arizona State tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. (CT) on the second day of the Four Points Sheraton/ Red Raider Classic
