Terry Don Phillips Presented with Bobby Dodd Athletic Directors Award

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips was presented the Bobby Dodd Athletic Directors Award at the Division I Athletic Directors Convention in Dallas, TX on Monday evening. The award is presented in conjunction with the Bobby Dodd National Football Coach of the Year Award.

Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney won the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year Award for 2011, as he led the Tigers to their first ACC title in 20 years and first BCS Bowl appearance in history. Clemson reached the Orange Bowl for the first time in 30 years.

Phillips is retiring this year after 42 years as a coach, administrator and athletic director, including the last 11 at Clemson.

Over his time at Clemson he has developed the concept and supervised the fund-raising and building of the West Endzone at Memorial Stadium. The football program has had five top 25 seasons in his tenure, and as stated previously, had its finest season in 20 years during the 2011 season.
