Terrance McDaniel Leads Seven Tiger Event Winners At Maryland Invitational With Provisional Qualifying Mark

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Terrance McDaniel posted a provisional qualifying mark in the high jump en route to winning the event, to lead the Clemson men’s track and field team at the Maryland Invitational held Saturday. The Tigers won six other events, including the 60m, 400m, 3000m, 4x400m relay, long jump and shot put.

In his first collegiate race this season, dual-sport standout Tye Hill claimed the 60m dash title with a time of 6.77, then placed fifth in the 200m (22.57). Robert Ibeh was Clemson’s top finisher in the 200m, with a time of 22.16 and a second-place finish. The Tigers swept four of the top-five spots in the 400m, as Robert Ibeh and Marcus Hodge in 3:20.23. Clemson’s two distance medley relay teams finished in second and third place. The team of Mike Barton, Eure, Hodge and Meany placed second in 10:12.83, and Wyatt, Rick Hill, Copes and Shaw were third with a time of 10:15.83.

McDaniel won the high jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 7’1″, and Derek Gilson won the shot put with a throw of 54’4.5″, and Rick Hill’s mark of 44’7″ placed him third.

After a weekend off, the Tigers will return to action at the Nebraska Invitational on Feb. 8.
