Swimming and Diving Signs Seven New Athletes

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson head swimming and diving coach Bruce Marchionda has announced the signing of three men and four women this afternoon. These seven signees in addition to the eight ath letes signed in the fall, bring Clemson’s total to 15 new freshmen for next season.

On the women’s side, Coach Marchionda signed two swimmers and two divers:

Ashley Shafer comes to Clemson from Lake Wales, FL where she was a high school All-American and Florida State champion in the 100 bresatstroke.

Sarah Diebler, out of York, VA, was a high school All-American in the 200 IM.

Jessica Watcke will join the Tigers form Cheshire, CT where she won the Connecticut State Championship in 1m diving.

Cristina Curtuneanu comes to Clemson from Bucharest, Romania where she was a member of the Romanian National Diving Team.

On the men’s side, the Tigers signed two swimmers and one diver:

Charlie Dillon comes to Clemson from Spring, TX where he earned high school All-American honors in the 200 IM.

Jonathan Mengering will join the Tigers from Rockville, MD where he was the Montgomery County 200 and 500 free champion.

Marsh Lindley, from Jeffersonville, IN, will join the Tiger divers. Lindsay was the Indiana Sate champion in the 1m diving event.
