Swimming and Diving Places Six on Academic All-ACC Teams

April 28, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2011 Academic All-ACC teams on Wednesday. Among the selections were six student-athletes from Clemson University.

Juniors Steven Gasparini were selected to the men’s team, while sophomore Tori Cervone represented the Tigers on the women’s team.

“I am proud of the ACC conference honors that these student-athletes have been awarded,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “They have found the true balance in becoming exceptional student-athletes. The most exciting part is that they will all return next year to support the mission our of athletic department and university.”

Dart was selected to the team for the third consecutive season, one of only six conference members to have at least that many career selections. Broster, Bruck and Reinke each earned their second career academic all-conference selections. Cervone and Gasparini are on the team for the first time.

Broster, Bruck and Dart were recently named to the All-ACC team for their performances in the pool this season.

These selections cap an impressive athletic and academic season for the Tiger programs. The men’s team finished in the top 25 nationally both in the pool and in the classroom and posted the highest GPA of any male athletic team, while the women’s team had the second-best GPA of all varsity squads.
