Swimmer Ginny Kirouac Chosen Academic All-American

April 21, 2000

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Clemson swimmer Ginny Kirouac has been named a second-team GTE Academic All-American. The announcement was made Friday by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America, the organization that votes on the team.

Kirouac was named to the Fall-Winter Sports team and competed against young ladies from all over the nation in swimming, cross country, soccer, field hockey, gymnastics and skiing. She was the only sophomore in the nation to be chosen first or second-team Academic All-American.

Kirouac, a sophomore from Atlanta, GA and graduate of St. Pius High School, has a perfect 4.0 GPA in business administration. She earned All-America honorable mention honors after placing 14th at the 400 IM national championships.

Kirouac placed in the top eight in three individual events at the ACC meet earlier this year, including a third-place finish in the 400 IM. A member of the Swim Coaches Association Academic All-America team, Kirouac has been named to the President’s List all three semesters at Clemson.
