Swanson Breaks Into NCAA and Clemson Record Books

Sept. 19, 2002

Freshman right side hitter Kristin Swanson recorded a .923 hitting percentage against Wofford Wednesday night in Jervey Gym on the campus of Clemson University, placing her among NCAA and Clemson all-time leaders.

The native of Lake Forest, IL, recorded 12 kills with no errors in 13 attempts in her break-out performance, ranking her among the NCAA all-time leaders in hitting percentage with 10-14 attempts in a single match. Swanson is one of eight student-athletes in NCAA history who have recorded a .923 hitting percentage. She is also first on Clemson’s all-time list for best hitting percentage in a match.

Swanson joins former Tiger All-American Cindy Stern in the NCAA record books. Stern hit .792 on Sept. 4, 1999 against Cleveland State. She is one of 19 student-athletes who have a hitting percentage of .773 or better with 20 or more attempts in a single match.
