CLEMSON, SC – A total of 15 athletes with Clemson track & field ties are headed to Des Moines, IA this week to compete at the USA Junior and Senior Championships at Drake University. Clemson’s contingent will be comprised of 10 current, four former and one future student-athlete. The action gets started on Thursday at Drake Stadium.The top three finishers in each senior event who meet the “A” qualification standard will be a part of Team USA, and will compete at the IAAF World Championships in August in Moscow, Russia. The same applies for the Junior Nationals, where top three finishers will head to Colombia to compete in August.Ten current Clemson athletes will compete in either the junior or senior national events this week. Dezerea Bryant qualified in both short sprints, while classmate Keni Harrison will focus on the 400 hurdles in Des Moines. In the men’s 110 hurdles, recent graduates Spencer Adams and Marcus Maxey will be in Clemson uniforms for the final time this weekend. Also competing in senior national events from Clemson’s current roster will be Reggie Lewis (100), Brunson Miller (400) and Torian Ware (high jump).Three current athletes are slated for the USA Juniors this week, held in conjunction with the Senior Nationals at Drake. Mimi Land is entered in both the high jump and long jump, while Jack Andritsch will compete in the men’s steeplechase and Jalen Langston in the men’s high jump.One signee from Clemson’s 2013 class will be in action this week. Jordan Pickerel, a native of Athens, GA, will compete in the junior men’s hammer throw.Four former Clemson track & field stars will be at the USA Championships, headlined by NCAA indoor and outdoor high hurdles record-holder Brianna Rollins. The newly minted Nike athlete will compete in the 100 hurdles as one of the favorites. She owns the fastest time in the world this season, and one of the 10 best in history.Other former athletes in competition at the USA Senior Nationals are April Sinkler (triple jump), Miller Moss (decathlon) and George Kitchens (long jump).The full schedule of events this week for Clemson’s contingent is below. ESPN2 will televise the event live on Friday, June 21 from 8-10 PM ET. NBC Sports Network will have live coverage on Saturday from 5-7 and Sunday from 3-4. NBC will televise the action live on Sunday from 4-6.
