Stephenson Fires Opening Round 75 at National Tournament

Clemson, S.C.—Clemson freshman Lauren Stephenson shot an opening round 75 at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon on Friday.  The native of Lexington, S.C. stands in a tie for 69th place after the first round with the three over par score. Stephenson is the first Clemson women’s golfer to play in the NCAA National Championship.

Stephenson’s day included an even par 35 on the back nine, her first round of the day.  But, she had four bogeys on the front side, her second nine of the day and had a three over par  40.   She had two birdies, one on the par three 16th hole and one on the par five 474-yard seventh hole.

Stephenson will be back on the course on Saturday with a 2:55 p.m. eastern time start at the first tee.
