Steffes Named To AVCA All-East Region Team

Dec. 6, 2001

CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior right side hitter Jodi Steffes (Elwood, IL) was named to the 2001 AVCA All-East Region team announced Wednesday. It is the first time in Clemson volleyball history that a Tiger has earned all-region honors each year she has played.

As a freshman, Steffes was an all-district pick after being named the ACC Rookie-of-the-Year. She was also honored as a member of the all-district team in 1999 after helping the Tigers to a 31-3 overall record. In 2000, Steffes earned all-region and All-ACC honors after leading the team in kills, hitting percentage and digs.

Steffes led the 2001 team in kills with 385, kills per game (3.63) and in hitting percentage (.296). She also posted a team-high 269 digs with a 2.54 digs per game average and was second on the team in service aces with 34.

Earlier this season, Steffes was named to the All-ACC second team for her performance during conference play for the third time in her career. She finished the season ranked ninth in the league in hitting percentage, and was seventh in the conference in kills per game. Steffes was a member of the all-conference team as a sophomore and junior after garnering ACC Rookie-of-the-Year honors as a freshman.

Steffes finished her career ranked second all-time in total digs with 1,309. Steffes has 1,422 career kills and is fifth on the all-time kills list, as well as sixth on the all-time kills per game list (3.17). Her .285 (1422-397-3600) career hitting percentage places her seventh on the all-time list. Steffes is also sixth on the career attempts list with 3,600. She ranks eighth on the all-time block assists list with 288, and is ninth all-time in service aces with 132.
