Stanley’s Stance No. 1

May 10, 2000

Journal Entry No. 1 May 10, 2000 – Lynchburg, Va.

Well baseball fans, the end of the regular season is nearing. How about this past weekend? Three huge wins over Florida State have placed us in a position to win the regular season ACC title. Let’s not look beyond Liberty on Thursday, though. They are a very scrappy team, with almost twice as many stolen bases as us. We will definitely have to play at a high level as well as this weekend to win all four games.

Virginia will be a big test, because they play very well at home. The Tigers will have to take the show on the road, and show these two teams that Clemson is on a mission to reach and win the College World Series.

Currently, I am sitting in my hotel room in Lynchburg, Va., waiting on the pizza man. Singy (Justin Singleton) and I figured we have one more meal in us before we retire for the night.

Talk about a long trip! We left Clemson at 2:00 today, and drove straight to Lynchburg. We did eat when we arrived, but we are still hungry and quite bored, so we decided on one more meal.

Well this weekend marks the end of my regular season at Clemson. It has been a great experience playing for the purple and orange, and I’m really looking forward to finally getting a taste of Omaha. With more consistent play like we exhibited this past weekend, I feel that Omaha is definitely in the making.

For those of you who won’t be with us this weekend, we hope you all will tune into the radio, and support us as if we were at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. I hope to see as many of you at the ACC Tournament as possible, and help us bring home the first ACC title of the century. Stay posted for more on my “stance” in upcoming days. Go Tigers!
