Stanley Named National Player of the Week

Sept. 17, 2008

Clemson, SC — Clemson golfer Kyle Stanley has been named National Player of the Week by Golfweek Magazine for his winning performance in the Carpet Classic last weekend.

Stanley shot rounds of 73-66-69 for an eight under par 208 total in winning the Carpet Classic at The Farm in Dalton, GA by five shots on Sunday. It was an impressive win for Stanley considering the 18-team field had 10 of the top 20 teams in the nation. Stanley made 14 birdies and an eagle for his 54 holes. He played the par five holes in nine under par, best in the field.

It was Stanley’s second career win as a Clemson golfer. He also won the Purdue Aloha Classic in November of 2006. It was his second win in two months overall. He won the Southern Amateur in Orlando, FL as an individual in July, the second time he has won that event.
