2021 Outdoor Season

• Opened her outdoor season by racing the 100m at the Tiger Track Classic (March 19-20).
• At the Tiger Track Classic, van der Merwe ran 11.75 to finish 7th. The race had a +2.2 wind.
• Made her collegiate debut in the 100mH during the FSU Relays (March 25-26), running 14.14 to finish eighth overall.
• Set a season’s best in the 100m at the UCF Knights Invite (April 23-24), crossing the line with a wind-legal time of 11.69.
• During the Florida Relays (April 2-3), van der Merwe crossed the line with a wind-legal mark of 11.75.
• At the Torrin Lawrence Memorial (April 30 – May 1), van der Merwe won the 100m, 110m, and 200m.
  • Her win in the 200m was the first of her collegiate career.
  • Won the 110m after an error on behalf of the meet.
• During the ACC Outdoor Championships (May 13-15), van der Merwe contested the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
  • In the 100m, van der Merwe ran 11.82 to finish 15th overall.
  • For the 200m, van der Merwe finish 12th overall by running 23.94.
  • Helped her team finish fourth in the 4x100m relay by running the anchor leg of the relay.
• Ran the third leg of Clemson’s 4x100m relay at the NCAA Preliminary East Region (May 26-29) meet, helping her team to run 43.46 and secure their spot at NCAA’s.
  • This was the third-fastest time in program history at the time of its recording.
• During the NCAA Prelims, van der Merwe ran the 200m, crossing the line in 24.05 seconds.
• Qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 9-12) as a member of the Tigers’ 4x100m relay.

2021 Indoor Season

• Made her Clemson debut during the Bob Pollock Invitational (Jan. 29-30).
• During the ACC Indoor Championships (Feb. 27-29), competed in both the 60m and 60mH.
  • Qualified for the final of the 60m, finishing 8th overall in 7.58.
  • Set a personal best in the 60m during the prelims by running 7.48.
  • In the 60mH, ran 8.52 in the prelims.
• At the Bob Pollock Invitational, van der Merwe ran the 200 meters (24.86) and 60 meters (7.60 [P]/7.63 [F]).
• Set a season’s best for the 60mH, running 8.60 at the Tiger Paw Invite (Feb. 12-13).
• Contested both the 60m hurdles and 200m at the South Carolina Invitational (Feb. 6), setting personal bests at each distance.
  • In the 60m hurdles, van der Merwe ran 8.76 during her debut at the event. This mark was set during her preliminary heat.
  • At 200 meters, van der Merwe set an indoor personal best in the one-lap race by running 24.66.

Prior to Clemson…

Antoinette van der Merwe will join Clemson in January as one of the world’s most highly sought-after athletes… primarily contests the 100-meter hurdles, 100 meters, and 200 meters… finished second at the African U20 Championships in both the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters in April of 2019… captured victory in both the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters at the South African U20 Championships… finished second in the 100-meter hurdles at the South African Championships… has a personal best of 11.49 in the 100 meters… has a personal best in 23.90 in the 200 meters… has a personal best of 13.81 in the 100-meter hurdles… will come to Clemson after her time at the University of Pretoria and is a native of Centurion, South Africa.
