In 2023-24: Played in two events as an individual and had 74.17 average for the six rounds…had best tournament of his career at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville, Va., April 8-9…he finished 34th as an individual, he was the third best Clemson golfer in the tournament with that finish…had second round 70 that was best of his career…finished with a 218 total, best 54 hole event of his career….four of his six rounds were 75 or better…had 16 birdies for his six rounds…had 3.21 average on par 3s, 4.21 on par 4s and 4.92 on par 5s.
In 2022-23: Played in three tournaments, two in the Clemson lineup, as a sophomore…had 74.44 stroke average for his nine rounds…had three rounds of even par and shot 75 or better five times…had 73.67 average in opening rounds and 74.33 in final rounds…had 3.20 average on par three holes, 4.29 on par fours and 4.81 on par fives….had 18 birdies and one eagle for his nine rounds…had best round of the day twice (73 at Watersound, third round, and 72 in final round at Wake Forest Invitational on Pinehurst #2)…his score counted four of six team rounds…opened the year as an individual at the Sharkey Invitational in February and finished 25th with 222 score…had even-par scores of 72 in each of his first two rounds…shot four-over-par at Watersound where he tied for second best among Clemson golfers with a 220 score…shot 228 at Wake Forest Invitational on famed Pinehurst #2.
Summer 2022: Got his summer off to a good start by winning the I-80 Amateur at The Sanctuary in New Lenox, Illinois…had rounds of 72-67 for a 139 total and a one-shot victory…finished 27th at the Palmetto Amateur in Aiken, SC, he had 287 total, seven over par at the event played July 6-9…had consistent rounds of 73-73-68-73…played well the first two rounds at The Dogwood, he started 72-74, but finished at 227 and missed the cut.
In 2021-22: Played in two tournaments as a first-year freshman, he played as an individual in both…finished 23rd at the Sharkey Individual Tournament with a 233 total…finished 42nd at the Nexus Collegiate in The Bahamas in difficult windy conditions…low round of the year was a 75 in second round at Sharkey Individual…had 12 birdies and one eagle over the year…hit greens at 60 percent and hit fairways 55 percent of the time…had 4.92 stroke average on par fives.
In High School: Curran was a three-time state tournament qualifier in Illinois, he finished second as a sophomore and 16th as a junior, tournament not held his senior year… Curran was named the Herald News Golfer of the Year on November 2, 2020…won the Lockport Invitational in September of 2020 when he shot a 66…Curran’s resume includes reaching the round of 32 at the USGA Junior Amateur, a sixth-place finish at the North-South Junior and the Northern Amateur…. finished ninth at the 2020 AJGA Junior Open on Sevierville, Tenn…in addition to being a four-year starter on the golf team, Curran was a three-year starter on the hard court at Lincoln-Way Central High….wore #1 in basketball…he averaged 12.5 points and five assists per game as the starting point guard and made the all-conference team each of his first three years….helped basketball team to 23-9 record and conference regular season first place in 2019-20.
Personal: Curran is the first golfer to come to Clemson from Illinois since 1980 when Mark Polites of Ofallo, Illinois, enrolled….Curran’s father, Bob Curran, is the high school basketball coach at Lincoln-Way Central High School…. Curran’s sister, Grace, is a former Illinois State Champion is in her fifth year as a starter on University of Minnesota women’s team in 2023-24…she earned Academic All-Big 10 honors in 2021-22…majoring in business administration…parents are Bob and Ann Curran…born March 29, 2003.
