Last week was a fun and exciting week for the members of the Solid Orange Squad and the Clemson basketball teams. The Tiger men’s and women’s basketball teams visited elementary schools on Friday, and the annual Tiger Cub Club Birthday Party was held in Jervey Gym prior to the Clemson vs. Ball State football game.
Early Friday morning, Devin Coleman and Jaron Blossomgame surprised the students at Pendleton Elementary. In honor of “Spirit Week,” the two Clemson men’s basketball players greeted students as they arrived at school in the morning. They greeted them with high fives and smiles to encourage kids to get excited about the school day and learning. After everyone had arrived at school, Devin and Jaron visited the special needs classroom at Pendleton to talk and interact with the students. While the men’s team was at Pendleton Elementary, the women’s team was at Clemson Elementary visiting with the second grade classrooms. They had the opportunity to read and talk to the classes. Clemson University is so proud of the immense impact that our basketball teams have on the surrounding elementary schools.
The second event of the week was the annual Tiger Cub Club Birthday Party. The kids were able to celebrate with the Tiger Cub in Jervey Gym before the Clemson vs. Ball State football game. There were many activities, including a coloring station, a basketball station and a Hula Hoop competition. The Tiger Cub’s Birthday Party would not have been complete without cupcakes, face painting and goodie bags for all the kids! Over 65 student-athletes helped organize and participated in the event.
