Clemson, S.C.—Sloan Shanahan returns to the Clemson lineup on Friday as the Tigers begin play in the Rebel Intercollegiate in Oxford, Miss. The University of Mississippi will play host to the three-day (April 3-5), 54-hole event that is at the par 72 University Course.
Eighteen teams will compete for the championship, including 11th ranked Tennessee and 15th ranked Texas A&M. Clemson is the only ACC team in the field that also includes Alabama State, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Furman, Harvard, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Maryland, Memphis, Mercer, Murray State, Mississippi, Samford, Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.
This will be Clemson’s final regular season tournament prior to the ACC Tournament, which will be held April 17-19 in Greensboro, N.C.
Shanahan will make her spring debut after missing the last three events with an injury. The first-team All-ACC selection from last year has played in just four tournaments this year.
Lauren Salazar has the top stroke average so far this year at 76.09 and the sophomore will be in the Clemson lineup for the 19th straight tournament over two years. Jessica Hoang, the most improved player from last year, will also play for J.T. Horton’s team this weekend. Sophomore McKenzie Talbert and freshman Marisa Messana round out the Clemson squad.
