Rutherford, Church Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson, S.C. – Lauren Rutherford and Sierra Church each picked up a weekly ACC honor, it was announced today by the league office. Rutherford was named the ACC’s Specialist of the Week, Clemson’s fourth different specialist of the week in its inaugural season, while Church earned the league’s Newcomer of the Week honors, Clemson’s third different newcomer of the week and fourth award.

Rutherford recorded a career-high-tying 9.925 on vault for her third event win of the season, helping lead Clemson to its first 197+ team score in program history (197.350). She holds the title as Clemson’s highest vault performer of the season with two 9.925 scores. The junior transfer also recorded a 9.900 on floor and a 9.825 on bars. 

Church was a force on beam for the Tigers, earning a career-high 9.925 for a career-high and her first event win of the season. She was an important piece in helping the Tigers capture their highest beam score of the season (49.300).

Clemson is back in action on Sunday, traveling to Denton, Texas, to compete with Texas Woman’s, Penn and No. 1 Oklahoma in the TWU Quad Meet. The meet is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. eastern.
