CLEMSON, SC – Rod Hall of Laney High School in Augusta, GA became the fifth signee for Clemson Head Coach Brad Brownell’s 2011-12 freshman class. Hall officially signed his national letter of intent to play for the Tigers over the weekend, joining the previously signed four-man group of Devin Coleman, K.J. McDaniels, T.J. Sapp and Bernard Sullivan.

“Rod is an extremely talented athlete and a very competitive young man,” Brownell said. “He’s accomplished a great deal in his high school career, and we’re glad to add another winner to our program. On the basketball court he is a very good ball-handler and passer who will give us added depth. He possesses the size, strength and tenacity necessary to be a very good defender in our program.”

Hall was a two-time first-team AA all-state selection (2010, 2011) after leading Laney to consecutive AA state championship semifinal appearances. A 6-foot-2 guard, he was named the 2011 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) AA South Player of the Year. He also played in the GACA All-Star Game in Savannah following his senior season, scoring 15 points in that event.

Hall averaged 24.7 points per game as a senior and was named Region 3-AA Player of the Year for a second consecutive season. Hall is also a two-time Augusta Chronicle Boys Basketball Player of the Year. A decorated athlete, he was named first-team all-state in 2010 as a wide receiver for Laney’s football team by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
