CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Ashlan Ramsey, a freshman on the inaugural women’s golf team at Clemson, has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Division 1 Honorable Mention All-American team announced Thursday.
Ramsey started in every tournament for the Tigers and notched two wins and six top-three finishes. She led the young team with a 72.91 stroke average. Ramsey was named to the All-ACC team earlier this month along with teammate Sloan Shanahan.
The 2013-14 WGCA All-America teams included 40 student-athletes – 13 first-team, 11 second-team and 16 honorable mention selections. Ramsey was one of eight ACC golfers named to one of the three All-America teams and is the first Clemson women’s golfer to receive the honor. Of the 40 All-America selections, Ramsey was one of only 12 freshmen to be named to one of the three teams and was one of six to receive honorable mention.
University of Southern California led the way with five WCGA All-Americans and UCLA followed with four. Of the eight ACC selections, the National Champion Duke Blue Devils led with three players.
