RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – Future Clemson women’s golfer Ashlan Ramsey shot a one over par 73 in the third round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Golf Club in Rancho Mirage, CA on Saturday. She stands at three over par 219 for the first three rounds, 50th overall, but third among amateurs.
Ramsey, a 17-year-old high school senior from Milledgeville, GA, has had rounds of 71-75-73 in competing against the best women’s golfers in the world. She is just two shots behind Lydia Ko and Stephanie Meadows in the race for the top amateur in the event, the first Major of the year on the LPGA Tour.
Ramsey was invited to the tournament after finishing runner-up at the US Public Links Championship last summer.
On Saturday, Ramsey had her best driving day as she hit 9-14 fairways and it led to hitting 13 of 18 greens in regulation. She had three bogeys and two birdies on Saturday. She birdied the second and 18th holes, a pair of par fives. Her bogeys came on the fifth, seventh and 10th holes. She played the last eight holes in one under par, and that should give her some momentum going into Sunday’s final round.
Ramsey will enroll at Clemson in August and be a key member of Clemson’s first women’s golf team, which will start play in September under head coach J.T. Horton.
