Quattlebaum Captures Furman Invitational Title

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Clemson women’s and men’s cross country teams both earned second-place finishes Saturday morning at the Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C. Junior James Quattlebaum captured the men’s title on the 8K course at the Furman Golf Club, crossing the finish line in 23:50.40. The women were paced by redshirt-junior Elizabeth Dawson, who earned an eighth-place finish after posting a time of 21:38.31 in the 6K.

“We as a coaching staff are very impressed with how we ran today, both on the women’s and the men’s side. The Furman Invitational is always a very competitive race and today that still proved to be the case,” said Clemson head coach Mark Elliott. “We had our full teams out there and I think both teams are moving in the right direction. Our number one runners had really strong performances today. James looked great out there. His time [23:50.40] on any 8K course is very impressive.”

The women finished with an overall score of 86 points, while the men registered 96 total points.

The Tigers will look to take advantage of a two-week break before heading to Charlottesville, Va., for the annual Panorama Farms Invitational.
