Clemson women’s basketball held its annual Orange and Purple Scrimmage on Tuesday night in Littlejohn Coliseum. The purple team outscored orange, 91-72 for the win. In all, ten players reached double-figures scoring in the game, and three players recorded double-doubles.
Sophomore Shaniqua Pauldo led all scorers and rebounders with 22 points and 13 rebounds in 38 minutes for Orange.
Senior guard Christy Brown led the winning team in scoring with 21 points on 7-11 shooting and 6-6 free throws. She also added eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Center Sthefany Thomas had 18 points, moving between both teams, and Jasmine Tate had 15 points and six boards for purple.
Freshman guard Keyrra Gillespie had 14 points (2-5fg, 2-2 3fg, 6-7ft) and 12 assists, with a majority of her time coming for the orange team. Kirstyn Wright had 18 points as well, with 13 coming for purple, and five for orange. Bryelle Smith added 12.
April Parker scored nine points and pulled down 11 boards for orange.
There were 41 total fouls called, and the teams combined to shoot 36-47 from the line (76.6%).
Clemson will return to action for an exhibition with Anderson University on Nov. 2 at 7:00 pm in Littlejohn, before opening the season against Furman on Nov. 13 at 5:30 pm in a doubleheader with the men’s team. The men open their season on Nov. 13 with Presbyterian at 8:00 pm.
