Purnell Honored For Work With Team USA

Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips presented Coach Purnell with this plaque of achievement on Jan. 3, 2004 for his role in helping Team USA qualify for the 2004 Olympics last summer.

Oliver Purnell has considerable experience as an assistant coach with USA Basketball. He is one of five USA Basketball coaches in the history of that competition to win four Gold Medals. He was selected as an assistant coach under Larry Brown for the 2003 USA Basketball team, the sixth time in his career he has been selected as a coach of a USA Basketball team, and will coach in the 2004 Olympics under Brown.
