Phil Grayson, a current Associate Director of Membership Services for the NCAA, has been named the Associate Athletic Director for Student Development at Clemson University. Grayson will begin his duties at Clemson on May 1.
Grayson has served as an Associate Director of Membership Services for the NCAA since 1999. From 1997-1999, he held the position of Membership Services Representative at the NCAA. He has extensive background in the NCAA waiver processes and with issues related to academic eligibility. Prior to his positions with the NCAA, Grayson worked as a School Liaison for Charter Behavioral Health System in Mishawaka, IN.
As the Associate Athletic Director for Student Development, Grayson will serve in a leadership role and coordinate with all staff members who provide student-athlete welfare services, including the Student-Athlete Enrichment Programs. He will also serve as a liaison to other campus offices, including the Provost, University Counsel, Admissions and the Registrar’s Office. Grayson’s other responsibilities will include developing and facilitating programs that address diversity issues with the Athletic Department, including minority and international student populations. He will also assist in directing and monitoring the assessment of athletic goals and objectives, and supervising the study of factors which impact graduation rates.
Grayson holds a M.S. in Education (Counseling and Human Services) from Indiana University South Bend and a B.S. in Business Administration (Marketing) also from Indiana University South Bend. He transferred to Indiana University South Bend from Marquette University where he was a varsity tennis player for three years.
