Clemson, S.C.—Jacob Bridgeman of Inman, S.C. and Zack Gordon of Gaffney, S.C. have both signed national letters of intent with the Clemson men’s golf program and will be members of the team starting with the 2018-19 academic year.
Bridgeman is a second-team AJGA All-American, the first Clemson signee to make a first or second-team AJGA All-American team since Billy Kennerly in 2011. Bridgeman had four top 10 finishes at AJGA events this past summer.
Bridgeman is a two-time defending state champion who also won the Region III 3A title, the Spartanburg County title and the Upper-state championship in 2017 when he had a 70.8 scoring average. His state championship victories have been by five and six shots, respectively. He was also a member of the United States Junior President’s Cup team this past September and posted a 2-1 record at that competition in New Jersey.
Gordon won the 2016 Carolinas Junior PGA Championship in Conway last summer when he had consecutive rounds of 68. He made a hole-in-one at that tournament. Gordon won the 2017 CGA South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship and won the 2015 Harvey Brock Orange Jacket Junior Tournament. Bridgeman won the same event the next year.
The current Gaffney High School senior finished fourth at the South Carolina Amateur tournament at Florence, SC last summer. He had a final round 65 that was the low round of the day by three shots. He was runner-up at The Blade and the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea and finished third at the 5A State Championship tournament.
