Paulsen Named Preseason Third-Team All-American by Baseball America

Junior first-baseman Ben Paulsen was named a preseason third-team All-American by Baseball America on Monday. Paulsen, who is the #24 college prospect for the 2009 draft according to Baseball America, was also named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List in December. That award is given to the nation’s best player.

The Acworth, GA native hit .310 with 18 doubles, 13 homers, and 49 RBIs in 58 games (58 starts) in 2008. He tied or led the 2008 team in hits (70), doubles, total bases (129), extra-base hits (32), and slugging percentage (.571).

The Tigers will open the 2009 season with a three-game series against Charlotte at Doug Kingsmore Stadium starting Friday at 4:00 PM.
