GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Cullen Jones paced the Wolfpack in a narrow loss to South Carolina on Saturday, earning Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Men’s Performer of the Week honors. Clemson’s Michelle Parkhurst was solid in meets against Kentucky and Davidson, earning ACC Swimming and Diving Women’s Performer of the Week accolades.
Jones earned his third performer of the week honor of the season after posting a trio of wins in NC State’s 121-120 loss to the Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C. Jones picked up the win in the 50 free in a time of 19.77, good for an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and just 0.03 seconds off an A standard. Parkhurst helped the Tigers pick up their first win of the season, 120-113 over Davidson on Saturday. The Vienna, Va., freshman notched a win in the 1000 free against the Wildcats, and helped the 200 medley relay squad post a second-place finish. Parkhurst was also a solid contributor in Clemson’s 137-106 loss to Kentucky on Tuesday, claiming a pair of first place finishes and two runner-up finishes. Parkhurst took first in the 50 back in a time of 26.98, and was first in the 100 back with a 57.66 effort. She also helped the Tigers post two second-place relay finishes, helping the 200 medley squad finish in 1:46.75 and the 200 free relay unit to a time of 1:37.16.
