Pair of Future Tigers Take Part in 34th Annual Capital Classic

Washington, DC – A pair of future Tiger basketball players faced each other on the court Thursday night in the 34th annual Capital Classic, held at the Comcast Center on the University of Maryland campus. Terrence Oglesby and Jerai Grant, who both signed letters-of-intent last fall, performed well for their respective teams in the All-Star game.

Oglesby was named All-Tournament after scoring 20 points and handing out six assists. He hit a game-high 6-of-13 three-point shots. His team, the U.S. All-Stars, fell by a score of 149-145 to Grant’s Capital All-Stars. This season, Oglesby was a AAA All-State performer for Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, TN. He averaged 24.6 points points per game and shot 44 percent on three-point goals while leading his high school to a 33-5 overall record.

Grant was recently selected second-team All-Met in the D.C. area, which is one of the top districts in the country for high school basketball. A product of Dematha Catholic, he posted a double-double Thursday night with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He added two assists and two blocked shots. The 6’8″ Grant, whose father (Harvey) and uncle (Horace) both played at Clemson, averaged a double-double this season for the Stags. He also competed at the Charm City Challenge on April 1 in Baltimore, where he scored 10 points and blocked a pair of shots.
