Orange Defeats White in Swimming Intrasquad Battle

CLEMSON, SCThe annual Orange and White Clemson swimming intrasquad meet was held Saturday at the McHugh Natatorium on the campus of Clemson University. The Orange team took a 213-195 victory over the White team in the matchup.

Junior Wesley Morrow won three events to lead the Orange team. Morrow took first in the 200 IM (1:59.22), the 200 Fly (1:55.54) and the 500 free (4:52.40). Senior Kathy Lowry won two events for the Orange, taking the 50 free (24.19) and the 100 free (53.36).

Also for the Orange team, freshman Emily Hustead won the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.93 and freshman Sean Wallace won the 200 breast in 2:09.54. Junior Jennifer Mihalik swam a 2:05.19 to win the 200 back, and Junior Erin Schatz won the 500 free in 4:56.63. The Orange team won the men’s 400 free relay.

For the White team, sophomore Leslie Anderson won the 200 IM in 2:09.7, while senior Wendy Henson won the 200 free with a time of 1:50.84. Senior Will York placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.84, and sophomore Razvan Petcu placed first in the 50 free with a time of 21.07. Senior Amy Suppinger placed first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:25.71, and sophomore Alex Ioanovici won the 100 free in 47.40. The White team won the women’s 400 free relay and both 400 medley relay events.

Junior Adam Porter won the 200 back with a time of 1:54.14

In the diving events, sophomore Andy Garrett won the 1-meter with a score of 266.95 and the 3-meter with 292.15. Freshman Micheala Smith won the 1-meter with a score of 260.25 and the 3-meter with a score of 258.40.

Clemson’s regular season begins October 31 at Virginia.
