Clemson, S.C.-Clemson golfers William Nottingham and Kyle Cottam both finished in the top seven at the Tennessee State Amateur Golf Championship at Hillwood Country Club in Nashville on Friday.   Nottingham finished second with a 277 score, while Cottam was seventh at 280.  Both players had under-par scores in all four rounds.

Nottingham shot a six-under-par 66 in Friday’s final round, as he finished birdie- eagle-birdie on holes 16, 17, and 18.   His 66 tied for the low round of the four-day tournament.   Nottingham had rounds of 69-71-71-66 in scoring his 11-under par score.  He had 13 birdies and two eagles over the 72 holes.

It marked the second straight year Nottingham has finished second at the Tennessee State Amateur.  In 2016 he was the state match play champion.

Cottam, who joined Nottingham in helping the Tigers to a final #14 national ranking in the 2019-20 season that was shortened by COVID19, had rounds of 70-69-71-70 for his 280 score.   He finished the tournament with 17 birdies.
